Chiropractic keywords are the words patients type into Google when they look for a chiropractor, a treatment or an answer about their pain. This list covers 44 of them with real US monthly search volume and average cost per click (Ahrefs, October 2026), grouped by what the searcher wants: a clinic nearby, a specific service, help with a condition, or an answer to a question. For each group you will see whether to target it with SEO, with Google Ads, or with neither.

How to read this list

  • US searches / mo is the average number of monthly searches in the United States. Your own city is a fraction of it, but the ranking between keywords is what matters.
  • Avg. CPC is what advertisers pay on average for one click in Google Ads. A high CPC means many clinics compete for that search, and usually that it brings paying patients. Blank means not enough ad data.
  • Volumes are national. To see your local numbers, use the method at the end of this guide.

1. "Near me" keywords: the biggest volume, won on the map

KeywordUS searches / moAvg. CPC
chiropractor near me302,000$3.00
chiropractors near me25,000$2.50
best chiropractor near me12,000$2.50
chiropractic near me10,000$3.50
walk in chiropractor near me7,000$2.00
affordable chiropractor near me1,600$1.90
chiropractor open on saturday1,000$2.50
chiropractic adjustment near me900$2.50
chiropractor open on sunday250$2.50

These are the searches with the most volume and the most intent: the person wants a chiropractor today. But you will not rank a website page for "chiropractor near me". Google answers them with the map (the local pack), built from Google Business Profiles. Winning them is local SEO: a complete Google Business Profile, steady reviews and accurate opening hours ("open on Saturday" is a real search). In Google Ads they work well when the campaign is limited to a tight radius around the clinic.

2. Service keywords: one page per service

KeywordUS searches / moAvg. CPC
spinal decompression16,000$0.90
spinal decompression therapy7,000$1.80
chiropractic adjustment6,600$3.00
car accident chiropractor2,900$7.00
prenatal chiropractor2,100–
sports chiropractor1,900–
pediatric chiropractor1,800$2.50
chiropractor after car accident450$6.00
upper cervical chiropractor450$2.50

Service keywords tell you what the patient already wants. Each service you offer deserves its own page with the service in the title, H1 and first paragraph, plus your city. Two things stand out in the data. Car accident searches have the highest cost per click on the list ($6–7), because personal injury cases are worth more to a clinic; if you treat them, they are worth a dedicated page and a dedicated campaign. And prenatal, sports and pediatric chiropractic have solid volume with almost no competition for content.

3. Condition keywords: the best SEO opportunity

KeywordUS searches / moAvg. CPC
chiropractor for sciatica1,400$2.50
chiropractor for migraines1,000$3.00
chiropractor for lower back pain700$2.50
chiropractor for neck pain600$2.50
chiropractor for hip pain600–
chiropractor for scoliosis500–
chiropractor for vertigo450$2.00
chiropractor for pinched nerve450$4.00
chiropractor for shoulder pain400–
chiropractor for herniated disc350$2.50
chiropractor for headaches300$3.00

Most of these keywords have a difficulty score between 0 and 8 out of 100 in Ahrefs, which means a well-written page can rank without a big backlink profile. They also bring people who already associate their problem with chiropractic. A page per condition, written by the chiropractor, with what the first visit looks like and honest expectations, is the content that pays off fastest. Keep the claims prudent: talk about how you assess and treat, not about cures.

4. Question keywords: answer them before the patient calls

KeywordUS searches / moAvg. CPC
what does a chiropractor do4,400$0.03
is chiropractic safe3,100$0.04
how much does a chiropractor cost2,400$1.50
chiropractor cost2,200$1.80
chiropractor vs physical therapist1,600$1.40
how often should you see a chiropractor400$0.02
chiropractor vs massage300$0.15
chiropractor that takes medicare150$1.80
does insurance cover chiropractor100$3.50

Question keywords rarely bring a booking on the same day, so they are poor Google Ads targets: "what does a chiropractor do" has a CPC of three cents. They are excellent content, though. Answering price, safety and insurance questions on your site removes the doubts that stop people from booking, builds topical authority for Google, and is exactly what AI assistants like ChatGPT quote when someone asks about chiropractic.

5. Keywords to avoid: your Google Ads negative list

KeywordUS searches / moWhy to exclude it
chiropractor salary11,000Job seekers, not patients
how to become a chiropractor4,000Students
chiropractic school1,000Students
chiropractor jobs900Job seekers
chiropractor degree450Students
free chiropractic adjustment60Looking for free care

These searches contain the word "chiropractor" and have serious volume, so a broad Google Ads campaign will happily spend money on them. None of them brings a patient. Add salary, jobs, school, degree, become, career, course and free as negative keywords from day one. We cover match types, negatives and radius settings in our guide to Google Ads targeting for chiropractors.

How to turn this list into a plan

  1. Map: optimise your Google Business Profile and collect reviews every week. It is the only way to win the "near me" searches.
  2. Service pages: one page per service you actually offer, with your city in the title.
  3. Condition pages: start with the three or four conditions you see most in clinic. This is where a small site can beat the big ones.
  4. Answers: a price, insurance and "what to expect" page. Short, honest, updated.
  5. Google Ads: start with service and condition keywords plus your city, in phrase or exact match, with the negative list above. See Google Ads for chiropractors and our step-by-step setup guide.

Keywords are only the first step of SEO for chiropractors: they tell you what to write, while reviews, speed and local signals decide whether Google shows it.

How to find the keywords for your own city

  1. Google Keyword Planner (free inside Google Ads): enter "chiropractor" plus your services and set the location to your city. You get local volumes and cost per click.
  2. Google Search Console: in Performance, the Queries tab shows what people already search before they find your site. Look for queries with impressions but few clicks.
  3. Google Business Profile: the Performance section lists the searches that showed your profile on the map.
  4. Your patients: write down the exact words new patients use when they call. They are the keywords nobody else is targeting.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best keywords for chiropractors?
For volume, the "near me" searches ("chiropractor near me" has about 302,000 monthly searches in the US), which are won on the Google map. For SEO, condition keywords like "chiropractor for sciatica" (1,400) or "chiropractor for migraines" (1,000), which have low difficulty and bring patients who already think of chiropractic. For Google Ads, service and condition keywords combined with your city.
Can my website rank for "chiropractor near me"?
Not with a regular page. Google answers "near me" searches with the local pack, built from Google Business Profiles. To appear there you need a complete profile, consistent name, address and phone across the web, and a steady flow of reviews.
What keywords should chiropractors exclude in Google Ads?
Job and education searches: salary, jobs, school, degree, become, career and course, plus free. "Chiropractor salary" alone has around 11,000 monthly searches in the US and never brings a patient.
How many keywords should a chiropractic website target?
One main keyword per page. A typical clinic site needs a home page for the city, one page per service, a few condition pages and a handful of answer pages (price, insurance, first visit). That is usually 10 to 20 well-targeted pages, not hundreds.
Where do these numbers come from?
US monthly search volumes and average cost per click from Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, pulled in October 2026. Volumes are national averages; your local numbers will be smaller, which is why the guide ends with how to check your own city.
